VENTURA, Calif. – Daniel Powell, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Board-Certified Behavior Analyst, has been named Vista del Mar Hospital’s next Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Powell brings 18 years of healthcare leadership, most recently serving as the Mental Health Operations Leader for Ventura County Medical Center’s (VCMC) Psychiatric Programs.

“I’m delighted and honored to join the Vista Del Mar team to carry on the tradition of exceptional patient care for the citizens of our county, “said Powell. “I look forward to working with the board, management team, physicians, nurses, mental health workers and staff as we work to make a difference in people’s lives.”

During his tenure at VCMC, Powell managed a 43-bed inpatient psychiatric hospital and helped to open their 12-bed Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU). Prior to this, he served as the Clinical Director of Operations for Trumpet Behavioral Health, based in Woodland Hills, for the Southern California region. He was also the CEO and Founder of Applied Behavioral Therapies, Inc a behavioral health agency, which he opened in 2008.

Powell attended the Southern Illinois University of Carbondale, receiving a Certification of Applied Behavior Analysis; Phillips Graduate Institute, receiving an MA in Clinical Psychology; and Cal State Northridge receiving a BS in Psychology. His professional affiliations include the Southern California Consortium of Applied Behavior Analysis, California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, and the California Association of Applied Behavior Analysts.

"We are confident that Dan’s professional background will guide Vista del Mar’s growth strategically and benefit the local community," said Brent Longtin, Regional Vice President of California for Signature Healthcare Services, the parent company for Vista del Mar. “Dan has the vision and passion to take the hospital to the next level, especially as we develop a CSU with Dignity Health and rebuild the hospital after the Thomas Fire.”
