Please join Pilar Sumalpong, Ph.D., Director of Vista del Mar's Military Support Program and Leslie E. Miranda, LMFT for an informative presentation about effective ways to treat co-occurring posttraumatic stress disorder and substance dependence with special emphasis on working with active duty military and/or Veterans. Through lecture, use of examples and discussion, attendees will be able to:-Gain familiarity with the cycle of PTSD, avoidance symptoms and substance dependence.
-Summarize the basic principles underlying Prolonged -Exposure (PE) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and EMDR.-Integrate substance dependence and relapse prevention intervention into PE, CPT and/or EMDR
