Adolescent Programs

At Vista Del Mar Behavioral Health, our adolescent program provides inpatient services to address the acute and immediate need of your loved one ages 12-17. Our first focus after admission is on stabilization of the patient as our professional and compassionate staff complete an in-depth assessment to determine the optimal customized treatment program and After Care Plan.

Acute inpatient treatment may be necessary if your adolescent loved one is exhibiting:

  • Thoughts of suicide
  • Recent suicide attempt(s)
  • Debilitating anxiety
  • Aggressive behavior
  • Severe depression
  • Isolation/withdrawal
  • Psychotic thinking/behaviors
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Substance abuse

Continued treatment plans in the adolescent program may include, but are not restricted to medication management, group therapy, school participation, and family and friend inclusion. In addition to these activities, our holistic philosophy may also include:

  • Art/Creative therapy
  • Music and movement
  • Meditation/Yoga

One of the first goals of our adolescent program is to help the patient identify their mental health and behavioral issues, and, more importantly, understand them. When they come to grips with what is happening and why, these young people are better able to:

  • Learn and incorporate coping skills
  • Develop health boundaries
  • Enhance communication skills
  • Increase self esteem
