Partial Hospitalization Program 
 The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is designed to offer adults alternative treatment options in an outpatient setting. The PHP program is conducted Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and each patient receives an individualized treatment plan managed by a multidisciplinary treatment team.
We offer a two-track program, psychiatric and dual diagnosis (with a chemical dependency emphasis) which focuses on education and coping skills that teach each patient healthy ways of managing their symptoms. The program includes:
- Identifying and expressing feelings in appropriate manner.
- Relapse prevention
- 12-step orientation
- Medication management
- Coping skills
- Drug and alcohol education
- Cognitive Behavioral Skills
Multi-Family groups are held weekly to discuss the family dynamics involved with each patient's case. Each patient receives an individualized discharge plan that includes attendance in the Vista del Mar weekly alumni group as well as follow-up aftercare referrals.
Transportation is provided upon request.
Assessment and Referral
Assessment and referral services are available at the hospital campus for any type of mental health or chemical dependency consultation. To schedule an assessment, obtain referral information, or to discuss hospital admission procedures, please call (800) 207-9694, or phone the hospital's main line at (805) 653-6434 and ask for the Assessment and Referral department.
Treatment Team
We believe a team approach is the most effective method to deliver quality care. The treatment team is led by a psychiatrist and often includes a licensed therapist, psychiatric nurse, activity/recreational therapist, clinical social worker, and mental health counselors. The treatment team offers not only their clinical expertise and experience, but also their concern and compassion.

Private and confidential assessments and referral information are provided at no charge 24 hours a day, seven days a week through the Vista del Mar Hospital's Intake Department.
